Software-defined solutions for Data–Center, the main capabilities of which are determined by software, remain the most promising direction for information infrastructure development. Let’s take a look at the benefits of the latest version of the industry leader’s operating system.
Nutanix AOS (Acropolis Operating System) is the heart software of the Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure. It is in constant development, improving the functionality and productivity of the Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure.
The current version of Nutanix AOS long-term support (LTS) is AOS 6.6. Let’s take a look at the enhancements of the latest Nutanix AOS 6.6:
- Enhanced Mode of Operation (AHV) with AMD Milan support: Nutanix platform also supports the latest AMD processors and delivers performance and compute speed improvements.
- Improved productivity: NVMe-oF support for fast data transfer between servers, cluster nodes, and optimization of clustered storage through improvements in the Extent Store.
- Improved security: support for Secure Boot technology to avoid the possibility of hacking the system at startup, support for Intel SGX technology to protect data from attacks at the processor level, etc.
- Improved Management Tools: new tools that make it easier to manage the platform, provide better analytics and monitoring.
- Improved network security: the ability to use IP addresses from open source networks and an improved mechanism for separating traffic.
- Improved capabilities for migrating data and virtual machines between different clusters, hypervisors, cloud environments.
- Support for updated operating systems: new versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.4 and CentOS 8.4 are supported.
We will look at some of these improvements in more detail in future posts.
